About The Brass Bands of Marple

The Brass Bands of Marple is a registered charity number 1049405.

The charity's aim is
TO PROMOTE AND FOSTER THE ENJOYMENT AND UNDERSTANDING OF BRASS BAND MUSIC FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC AND IN SUPPORT OF OTHER LOCAL CHARITIES.

It has three parts.

First came Marple Band in 1900.

Next on the scene was Hawk Green Band which started life as Marple B Band in 1982.

In 1986, following the death of Charlie Ingham, the Charles Ingham Band Room committee was founded.
Now that the bandroom has been built, the original bandroom committee has become the Central Management Committee of the Brass Bands of Marple. This committee looks after the bandroom and other shared assets. It includes the charity trustees.
